RESPONSES TO THE MEDIA

MEDIA SVEA
10.22.07 - Bargaining session tonight at 7pm

"The team looks forward to bargaining and negotiating tonight and we are always willing to negotiate.  However, if the board remains steadfast it will be a short meeting."

- Butch Santicola

10.18.07 - Media reports that SVEA will fine coaches that cross the picket line.

"Contrary to erroneous statements made by a local radio host, the SVEA has not and will not fine any coach for crossing the picket lines.  These lies are perpetuated in the media by allies of Mr. King in an attempt to bargain in the media and generate hostility between the community and its teachers."

- Pat Andrekovich, SVEA Chief Negotiator

"Never in the history of PSEA has any member been fined for anti-strike activities.  Its not part of our mechanism and to insinuate only incites for the wrong reasons."

- Butch Santicola, PSEA Spokesperson

10.18.07 - School board lawyer Tom King announces that progress was made in Wednesday's negotiations, later says no progress was made.

"There are many examples of the board representatives using the media to confuse the situation.  An example is the last joint release made after the bargaining session Thursday.  In one breath Tom King agrees that there is progress and in the other while doing a talk show he indicates there is no real progress."

- Butch Sanicola, PSEA Spokesperson
